UCLA Women's Basketball climbed to No. 3 in the nation in the second poll of the season as the Bruins have high expectations in 2023-2024. 

Starting the season ranked No. 4, the Bruins blasted Purdue of the Big Ten in the opening week of the season and piled on two more wins to finish 3-0. They'll play Princeton at Pauley Pavilion on Nov. 17 before heading abroad for their big test of the season. 

And it is big. 

UCLA plays at the 2023 Cayman Islands Classic starting just after Thanksgiving on Nov. 24 and their ranking fits right in with some of the other powerhouse programs at John Gray Gymnasium. 

The Bruins join defending national champion LSU, the most successful program of the century UConn, the defending WNIT Champion Kansas and yet a third top-10 ranked team, No. 9 Virginia Tech. 

But the Cayman Islands Classic is not a tournament, it's a showcase. And while UCLA won't play Virginia Tech, Kansas or LSU, the Bruins do play one of the favorites to win it all in March: UConn. 

UCLA, to its credit, is also one of those March favorites. Here's what to know about UCLA at UConn.

UCLA plays UConn at 7:30 p.m. EST on No. 24. They play Niagara at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 25.

UCLA vs. UConn WBB Is One Of The Best Games Of The Week

There are a lot of great games over the holidays, in men's and women's basketball, but not many will be as anticipated or intriguing as UCLA vs. UConn. 

UConn's 14-straight Final Four streak ended in 2023, but the Huskies, with Paige Bueckers back, are looking to start a new one. The BIG EAST power has already suffered a loss, 92-81 to N.C. State, and they'll play Maryland and Minnesota before before heading to the Caymans. 

For UCLA, coming off a 27-10 season in 2022-2023 and a 15-3 Pac-12 record and Sweet 16 appearance, its a chance to capture one of the biggest non-conference wins in years.

Selection Sunday for the NCAA Women’s Tournament is March 17, 2024. The First Four will tip off March 20, with the Round of 64 beginning March 22.
