Who's The Best NCAA D2 Women's Basketball Team Ever? Here's A Bracket
Could the 2025 Grand Valley State Women's Basketball team beat great Cal Poly Pomona teams and North Dakota State teams? Vote in our bracket.

The NCAA Division II women’s basketball tournament has produced more than four decades of elite teams, dynasties and historic seasons.
Using the official championship game history as a guide, an all-time 64-team tournament field has been constructed by selecting the teams that reached the national title game each season since the tournament began in 1982.
Each title-game participant represents one of the strongest teams in Division II history. In this format, each team is treated as a unique “season team,” meaning a program can appear multiple times if it reached the championship game in different years.

Programs such as Cal Poly Pomona, North Dakota State, Ashland and Delta State appear frequently because of their repeated success at the highest level of Division II women’s basketball.
To create a balanced 64-team field, all championship-winning teams were automatically included. Remaining spots were filled by runner-up teams from the championship game, with stronger performances—such as close finals or overtime games—serving as the primary tiebreaker when necessary.
The final 64 teams were seeded and placed into four regions using an S-curve format, ensuring that each region features one team on each seed line from No. 1 through No. 16.
The result is a hypothetical tournament that pits the greatest seasons in NCAA Division II women’s basketball history against one another.
So.... who wins it all?
